Return Policy

We build every target by hand in Huntsville, Texas, and we stand behind what leaves the shop. If something about your order is not right, we want to hear about it before you do anything else.

Call us first

Most problems get solved with a phone call. If an item arrived damaged, the wrong product showed up, hardware is missing, or a target is not performing the way you expected, contact us and we will work through it with you.

Have your order details handy. If the problem involves damage or a shipping error, send photos of the item and of the box it came in. Photos let us diagnose the issue quickly, and in most cases we can fix it without you shipping anything back.

How to start a return

  1. Contact us by phone or email within 7 days of the delivery date.
  2. Give us your order number, the item you want to return, and the reason for the return.
  3. We will confirm the return with you and provide the return address along with any instructions specific to your item.
  4. Ship the item back. Put a copy of your order confirmation, or a note with your order number, inside the box.

Please do not send anything back before you hear from us. Unannounced returns can be delayed or refused, and we have no way to match an unidentified box to your order.

How refunds work

When a return is approved and the item arrives back in acceptable condition, we refund the purchase price you paid for that item, less the actual cost we paid to ship the order to you.

Steel is heavy and freight is a real cost, and we pay it the moment your order goes out the door. That applies to orders where shipping was included in the price shown at checkout. The outbound shipping cost is not refundable in either case.

Refunds go back to the original payment method. We process the refund after the item arrives and passes inspection, normally within 7 business days. How fast the credit shows up on your statement is up to your bank or card issuer.

Who pays return shipping

You do. Getting the item back to our office is your responsibility and your cost, and the item is your responsibility until it reaches us.

Pack it well, use a carrier that provides tracking, and think about insuring the shipment. Steel targets are dense and unforgiving on a box. If a return is lost or destroyed on the way back to us, we cannot refund it.

Condition of returned items

Items must come back unused and in original condition, with all hardware, bolts, hangers, and parts included. We inspect every return before issuing a refund. Items that come back incomplete or damaged from use may be refunded in part or declined.

Targets that have already been shot

Steel changes permanently the first time you shoot it. Once a target has taken rounds, we cannot resell it, so it is not returnable for a refund unless there is a manufacturing defect. Contact us if you think you have one and we will make it right.

The following are normal for steel targets and are not defects:

  • Paint wear, scuffing, and surface marks
  • Surface rust and discoloration on unpainted steel
  • Cratering, dimpling, or pitting caused by steel core, armor piercing, or bimetal jacketed ammunition
  • Cratering or dimpling caused by shooting closer than the minimum distance for your target and load
  • Edge damage, dishing, or deformation from rounds striking the edge of the plate
  • Damage from rifle rounds fired at velocities above what the target is rated for

Shoot your targets at the appropriate distances and use jacketed lead ammunition. That is what AR500 is designed for, and it is what keeps a plate flat for years.

Damaged, wrong, or incomplete orders

If your order arrives damaged in transit, or we sent the wrong item, or something is missing from the box, call or email us within 7 days of delivery with photos. Problems that are our fault or the carrier’s fault are ours to fix, and you will not pay return shipping on them.

Custom and made to order items

Targets cut, drilled, or fabricated to your specifications are built for you and only you, so they are not returnable unless we made them wrong or the material is defective. We confirm the details with you before we cut, which is the point at which changes are easy and free.

Exchanges

We handle exchanges as a return followed by a new order. The same terms apply. Call us and we will walk you through it.

Canceling an order

Call or email us as soon as you can. If your order has not shipped and is not already in fabrication, we will cancel it and refund you in full.
